Chicago Marathon Runner - Will Caviness

If you can support Will's cause, please do so...

Most of the community has learned the story of the tragic loss of Captain Will Caviness, 35, who collapsed near the finish line of the Chicago Marathon, October 9th, and passed away shortly after. He was running the marathon in an effort to raise funds and awareness for burn survivors through the IAFF Foundation Burn Fund exceeding his goal of $2000. He was the organization's top fundraiser before his death, raising $2,895. Since his passing donations have continued to surge in his honor and currently exceed $18,000. He had posted on his Facebook page that he valued the burn foundation’s mission and its dedication to improve the quality of life of burn victims, especially the lives of children. Caviness was an 8 year veteran with the Greensboro Fire Department. He was promoted to Captain in December 2010 and was serving at Station 14 on Summit Ave. He lived and died in service to others and now we have the opportunity to come together as a community to help give support to his family. Will leaves behind his wife, Jenny, Jack, 4 and Caroline, 10 months.
